Hi, I'm TheBigBlack! Most people just call me TBB or Tibbs, though. To be honest, I'm just some kid who wants to go to art school, haha. I love horses, and currently ride and lease a 9 year old Friesian x Canadian cross, Griffin. We're training in hunter jumper, and will hopefully be ready to show in some beginner shows this summer!
As for art, I am a self taught equine artist who just started taking traditional art lessons this year at school. I have a great art teacher, and I hope to get a lot better with my art in the next few years!
I draw horses from memory only - I don't use any references, so anything you see in my gallery is freehand.
My style is a mixture of traditional and digital art. I sketch and line the piece with pencils, usually HB or H, and color with SAI. I find that lines can be a lot more detailed and precise when you use a pencil rather than relying on technology to do it for you.
I also tend to go a little texture crazy, and I don't use much shading - but I think drawing how you love to draw is more important than just doing what everyone else wants you to do
I have never been able to own my own horse, but I've started saving up through commissions to buy Griffin. He's my best friend, and I would love more than anything to take him with me when I move away - since I won't be coming back to where we are now.
If you're interested in commissioning me, just drop me a note. I'm always open for commissions, but unless I have a day off from school or a long weekend, holiday, etc, I work very slowly. I work from $2.50 for a headshot, up to about $25 for various things. It would really help - Griffin's a spoilt brat, so most of it is going towards equipment and treats for him.
If you would like some of my art, but don't want your own commission, I usually have a .psd or two for sale for 50 points.
Here are a few examples of my art - please enjoy!

Scotston - There's an almost oldy quality to Tibbs work. Thinking of almost greek style art, I can compare similarities. I could see her work as book illustrations too. It's a style she's captured that I'd personally love to harness. Adding minimal colour has such a striking effect on her work, adding life in such a subtle way. I strongly suggest anyone has a browse through her work to see what you discover, you won't regret it.

Seriously Need Help! Update
Hi everyone, its SnowInHades here .
:thumb325233783: It has recently come to my attention that a couple of people said the Digital Art folder was full, however, this is not the case. Other artists are still submitting to this folder successfully. The only issue as far as I can see is that the folders are not titled with the current date which needs updating. This and other features are only accessible with Super Group.
So, with that being said, we've sent out a few journals to say we need major Points to keep AoE in Super Group status, which we are currently not.
Do you love AoE? Do you want to see us getting the best out of our grou
Hello AoErs! We need your help!
Hello everyone! - Scotston here..
We're starting the donation drive to keep our Super Group status for the 9th year running! We're so restricted right now. Every single year supported by the *incredible* members of AoE. We need to raise 4396 :points: to reach the goal of 4796! Any amount truly does help to get us closer - please consider helping us out! But rather than donate & get nothing in return, keep reading to the bottom of this blog..
Without Super Status - we can't change our sub-folders, have limited journals, lost group pages & front layout... the list is actually endless! It's really restricting us right now. :(
